The first book to combine how-to, self-help and spiritual genres to address the needs of millions of readers as they strive to detach from the Culture of Chaos and embrace a life of balance. It is through this inner harmony and balance that one may then create a meaningful, authentic reality. With a down-to-earth approach, the reader is guided through the process of emotional healing and renewal of spirit through the familiar analogy of housekeeping: cleaning, organizing, and "airing out" our lives, room by room, task by task.  Housekeeping for the Soul carries its lovely, practical message with a lilting voice and eclectic viewpoint. The author helps us clear out some spiritual cobwebs and make our next 'spring cleaning' apply not to our homes but to the deepest part of ourselves.   Sandra Carrington-Smith 'brings home' the need to simplify and let go of psychological 'clutter' in order to be more fully present in our everyday lives. Housekeeping for the Soul overflows with important concepts presented in a style that is fresh and relatable. A unique, 'must read' debut from this eloquent author.

A helpful book with real insights that will help you change your life

The author, Sandra-Carrington Smith is a colleague of mine. That said, I think she has written a very helpful book! The metaphor of housecleaning one's soul as one does one's house is an apt one, with the familiar dread at the start of the project, and the growing excitement at having made significant progress, while knowing that the process is never really complete. The comparison of closets, which are accessible, to our conscious mind, and attics, which are less so, to our subconscious mind, crystallizes the metaphor.

In Housekeeping, Sandra shares with us her accumulated wisdom gleaned from a childhood infused with spiritual elements from a variety of faith traditions, her own hard-won lessons from her unique life experiences, and her years as a life coach, during which she has been able to integrate and pass on all that she has learned.

Housekeeping is chock full of sound psychological concepts, fascinating tidbits about the spiritual practices of some lesser-known religions, and exercises and positive affirmations designed to facilitate growth, all presented in a clear and encouraging style which makes one feel that lasting change is not only possible, but is the logical result of finishing this book.
