Narrator Highlight: John Sackville

John Sackville is an English actor celebrated for his versatility across stage, screen, and audio. He is best known to U.S. audiences for his memorable turn as the villainous Robert Frobisher Smythe in the hit television series House of Anubis. Born in Norfolk, England, John began his acting career after studying at St. Andrews University and training at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. He went on to perform leading roles in regional theatre and the West End before joining the Royal Shakespeare Company, where he also voiced the award-winning BBC World Service series Lifespan, featuring excerpts from plays and poetry.

John’s screen career has included numerous film and television productions. He portrayed Pope John Paul II in BBC1’s Young John Paul II: Witness to Evil, appeared in Netflix’s The Crown (2015), and played King George VI in the BBC drama Royal Wives at War. In 2016 he appeared as Simon Beauclerk in James Gray’s The Lost City of Z, followed by roles in 20th Century Fox’s Genius and the title role in William Wordsworth for English Touring Theatre. In 2020, John won Best Male Performance in a Supporting Role at the Off West End Theatre Awards for his portrayal of Thomas Armstrong in Go Bang Your Tambourine at the Finborough Theatre.
