Absolutely one of the best series on audible. Well narrated and keeps you on the edge of your seat all the time. You'll laugh out loud often and you feel as if you are right there with the characters. Every detail is explained and described in great detail. . you can imagine everything so clearly. Which is the mark of a good book in my eyes. Thank You John O'Brein for countless great hours of entertainment!

The BEST historical fiction!

The Half-Bloods Trilogy is by far the best historical fiction I've ever listened to. It takes place during WW2 and isn't just about the war itself, but the human experience of war. It revolves around the Vogel family. The father is German and the mother is English. The loyalty of each family member is questioned because of this and eventually they are on both sides of the war. Although this is fiction, there are many truths in this story, This series will have you experience a wide range of emotions, both good and bad. War is ugly, but there are still beautiful moments in between. I can't recommend this book and this series enough! I will most definitely be checking out more books by Jana Petken! Excellent narration by Norman Gilligan!

enjoy good mystery

Would you listen to The Mysterious Affair at Styles again? Why?

yes because I enjoy Agatha Christie mysteries, and the reader was easy to listen too and put different vocals to each character...have read the book many times so made the "listen" even more enjoyable

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

well not really, because as I said previously, have read the book many times...but for someone that hasn't read it...it will keep you guessing as to "who done it"

What about Judi Pennington’s performance did you like?

she read it with good understanding of the book and the characters

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

just enjoyed

Any additional comments?

I would recommend this "listen" to anyone who likes mysteries without foul language or graphics of any kind...just good writing, and good reading...and much pleasure of literature

Great listen! Great plot including great ending

...Characters. BUT... The conclusion is the best ending I have ever read. It is totally a surprise and shockingly so. WOW!! I could use as many superlative adjectives I know and still not adequately describe how extreme the conclusion effects all that came before.
After reading my remarks, do yourself a big favor and don't let curiosity overpower you to read the conclusion first. You'll be very sorry you ruined a great mystery!

The best audiobook you’ll ever listen to.

There aren’t words to describe how incredible this book is. It’s broken my heart and healed it every time I’ve read it and now to hear those words spoken... just incredible. Nikki Delgado and Jeff Leach are the two perfect voices for this book. Their inflection is so perfect for Georgia , Cam and all the characters. That you feel like they are real people right in front of you. The Carnage audiobooks are the best I’ve ever heard and will be my most listened to in my collection. Lesley Jones is a magician with words.

Emotionally Beautiful heartbreaking Love Story

THIS AMAZING LOVE STORY is everything . WOW I was so connected to these characters. I AM connected to them. The Narration by Nikki Delgado was AMAZING she brought to life each moment of this story. This story so difficult at times and so deep in a way that her narration gave such a beauty and depth to the story. I can't even use words as I try to explain how I felt, how I still feel everything. What an experience. I'm utterly shattered, and I am thankful for every moment I spent listening. The lifeline of this story is what I loved the most. Watching them grow and watching their lives unfold was perfect, heartbreaking yet perfect. No spoilers however I'm soo broken I just can't even fathom this as reality. Oh my lord broken crying and rocking and wish I could listen again for the 1st times over again. Oh Maca and Gia what a love story. This is something you need to listen to YOU HAVE TO.

Product rated : The Federalist Papers

Should Be Taught in Every American Public School by Law (and I'm a liberal)

Per the headline - this book should be taught throughout a standard public education, regardless of your political persuasion. In fact, I would go so far as to say that were this book to be taught throughout a standard public education, political persuasion would become nearly irrelevant insofar as the common welfare of our Republic is concerned. The things I learned in the first forty pages of these papers would solve 99% of the problems suffered by contemporary partisanship (factions) in the United States of America.

These papers existed for one simple purpose - to make an argument, to the common man, in favor of reconstituting our Republic under "a more perfect Union", as defined by this new constitution. It, of course, succeeded - which is amazing considering the political climate of that time.

Cut to 2018: The common refrain of all the partisans today is "you don't understand The Constitution!" In fact, based on what these papers convey most accurately today, I am convinced that very few citizens, particularly the most partisan, actually understand The Constitution. Reading the actual document, however, will not provide the WHY behind it - leaving us to argue out what we THINK the writers intended. If only we had access to what they were thinking in direct, original and unvarnished letters organized and focused specifically on the WHY of each and every element of that document.

We do. They are the Federalist Papers, and it is a crime that we force our children to memorize what day Washington crossed the Delaware, and fail to teach this collection of writings. We reap what we sow, and what we sow is ignorance.

This is an academic essay

This is an important book, still very significant today but is not easy for the lay reader to fully comprehend on first listening - for me short listenings, say 30 minutes, every day and re-listening allowed me to grasp and consider what Weber is saying. The narrator assists the reader and does not get in the way, he has a voice that is smooth yet engaging. Keep in mind that the essay was written over 100 years ago.

Loved it!

I do love historical fiction, and this is by far the best I've listened to! This particular story is very interesting to me. I've always wanted to know my family story and how they escaped Germany during the war but have very little info sadly. The family in the story shares my last name. Sadly not my family or their story, but still very cool. I even learned a few things about the Germans I didn't previously know and the terrible things that happened to the Jews. Such a sad a terrible thing to have happened. Well I've already bought book two and plan to start in the morning. I see there is a book three but not on audio yet. Hopefully soon! Great narration by Alistair Davis. He does an outstanding job with all the different accents and voices. Wonderful story so far by Jana Petken. She has a few other books I plan to check out as well. All are historical fiction.

Product rated : Siddhartha

Siddhartha and Hesse live on

I first read Siddhartha and other Hesse books in my early 20's during the early 70's while a student at the University of Iowa as well as during a tour with the US Army. For many, back then, Hesse seemed to strike a cord for helping you make sense of life and where your own life was headed. Over the years thoughts of these Hesse books would come back to me remembering perceived pearls of wisdom. So now these forty years later I decided to give Hesse's books another go. Now in my 60's and retired, Siddhartha still gives out a perspective on life. There is still life to be lived in the golden years. Reinforcing the thought that life is for the living, Siddhartha discusses that one shouldn't get too serious about the meaning of life, the challenge is to accept life as it is, with both the good and the bad, in the end it's all the same thing, a life. One interesting aspect listening to this now is that when I first read the book back in the day I was reading it from the perspective that I was a son and what impact did my own father have on the direction of my life. Considerable I suppose. But now I look at it from the perspective of the father, having a son of my own in his 20's. Accepting and letting him lead his own life isn't always easy but realizing that he will lead his own life is the challenge. Once you accept that, it gets a lot easier. It is amazing that almost 100 years after being written this book still has meaning, maybe now a maturity.

A joy to listen to

Where does The Scarlet Letter rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is among my top three.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved that that the story unfolds so beautifully. Although you know what is going to happen from the beginning it is very compelling and has lots of very lovely moments.

What about Ian Lynch’s performance did you like?

I think the narrator made this perfect. He uses appropriate tone, pronunciation and pacing of delivery for the period in which the novel is based. The different characters- male/female/child whilst easily differentiated are not made into an over the top performance. First class narrator.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

There is good use of music for chapter/scene breaks.

Amazing Read

I loved this book when I read it years ago and actually still have it in my collection. When I saw that there was an audible version I just had to try it. I was not disappointed. Loved this book just as much now as back then and the narrator was brilliant I was hooked. Can't wait to now listen to Stars.

Riveting - Hard to Put Down...just WOW!

How to begin??? WOW! This story is a hard read/listen and even harder to put down!!! Incredibly well written and expertly narrated by Timothy McKean. Junkie Love is not the typical romantic love story but a hard-core look at life thru the eyes of an addict. Their relationships with addiction, those they love, those who love them, and everyone in-between, including themselves. I appreciate Joe Clifford’s sharing his personal story, raw, gut-wrenching and unforgiving, I needed to hear it…we ALL need to hear it! My eyes have been opened to the enormous involvedness of addiction and my heart aches for all who are touched by it.

I recommend this book to absolutely everyone…
